Docks of my hometown

Post  atislay on Fri 8 Jan 2010 - 6:21

So what do you think of "Docks of my hometown" ?

My impressions of the short demo are:

1) it rocks, it sounds like a song with a great future, it could become a classic
2) I hear the influence of the boss, Bruce Springsteen... Very Happy

Matthias.

Wasn't really sure about it but that's it, Daniel, a little bit like Atlantic city, but not a copy !

Cheers, Matthias.

Hi matthias,

I didn't mean "Docks of my hometown" is a copy (perhaps I misspoke), I hear in "Docks of my hometown" something (perhaps a bit of melody) which remember me "atlantic city" (not the original version from nebraska but the live "live in new york city").

And I hear in coast the sound and the melody of runrig and the strengh and the lyricism of springsteen. But coast is not runrig or springsteen, coast is coast.

best wishes
Daniel

I'm privileged to have heard the whole demo and it is a cracker. Definately Springsteen influenced! Paul has been listening to a lot of Springsteen for two weeks before he recorded it Smile

Hi Tiz - I normally turn down the offer of a sneak preview from Mr Eastham as I'd rather hear the final version 'fresh' on the finished article but succumbed to temptation this time Cool

It's like whenever I listen to America on the album now I hear the original demo I had in my head (which was bloody good in it's own right!) and also the sound of it being recorded in the studio (that was the track they were recording when I spent a day in the studio last year). Which reminds me, I've got some video footage of that day....I feel a montage clip in my veins....(or maybe Angela and David's wedding footage ought to take precedence....?! Laughing )

Would love to be able to share but it's more than my job's, sorry, hobby's worth to leak them out :-)) I did manage to keep this one to myself for 3 weeks though, which is a minor miracle...apart from dropping a few subtle hints about Springsteen on Facebook a while back.

I expect 'Docks' may get some 'car play' enroute to Scotland next month though....

But it is a cracking song - not bad for 3 hours work - I don't know how they do it!

If I can go Trousers want to share your journey with a mad Bristolian. I need to do this cheaply and as I say I am risking my testicles over this one.

I will even let you play Chris de Burg Cool as it is your car

Oh that would be really great Tiz, if you join the tour !
But I would think about hearing Chris de Burgh the whole trip from the south to the north... Wink
