Afro Celt Soundsystem to tour in 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simon Emmerson is pretty busy with the Imagined Village these days but it seems that his other little project, the massively popular Afro Celts will be hitting the road again this year. Details are sketchy at the moment as an official announcement hasn't been made.
I'd expect a world tour with just a handful of dates in the UK, one confirmed appearance is at the Shrewsbury Folk Festival in August.
Afro Celt Sound System was formed in 1995 as a collaborative effort between traditional African and Celtic musicians and several respected figures from the UK music scene. Signed to Real World for ten years they released a string of classic albums that dippped into Celtic and African cultures latterly underpinned with a club and festival friendly bedrock of drum and bass.
Their most recent album is widely regarded as their most definitive, 2005's Anatomic, critically well received yet Real World didn't get behind it to give it the promotion it deserved and it seemed the band had dissolved. News of a tour is welcome indeed, could there be more recording in the pipeline?
More news when we get it!

Re: Afro Celt Sound System
I like it!
It's an interesting mix of music styles, especially the first song is great.
It reminds me a little bit of Loreena McKennitt, who mixes up different kinds of folk music, like
celtic and oriental music.
