Coincidently, I've also been a Runrig fan since 1988.....dare I mention where I first saw them....?
<edit> must remember to log on as 'Trousers' and not 'admin' when I start to post my usual message board drivel on here! I wouldn't want people to think that the admin spoke giberish all the time too !

Hi Trousers, you're lucky, I didn't get to see them live until 1993. In 1998, I was living on Benbecula, not many live shows !!!!!
I saw them first in Dusseldorf, then 3 weeks later in Cologne. Since then I've seen them in Bournmouth, Brighton, Portsmouth x2 and Southampton x2. I've seen the Beatles in '64 and '65 and Bob Dylan in '66, but RUNRIG are the best !!!!!

Re: RUNRIG............
I think I go back a wee bit more than 1988!! I can't actually remember when I first saw them live, but I first heard them in 1982ish!! I fell in love with them then and my love affair has continued for a long time!! I know I definately saw them in 1985ish when they played at a marquee dance at the Black Isle Show. Which incidentally was the same night that Calum found the inspiration for Every River!! I have seen them play in little village halls and local "discos" (nightclubs to you younger folk!).
So I guess I am too old for Trousers' Space Time Continuum???

Surely, age means nothing in the space time continuum. If it does, I'm definitely out !!!!!!Linda wrote:I think I go back a wee bit more than 1988!! Re: RUNRIG............
Quick....contact the Runrig office to see if they need a support band.....!!
http://www.runrig.co.uk/news.html#topRunrig return to the Castle
Runrig are delighted to announce their Scottish summer show on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle on Saturday the 26th July. After 2007 being such an exciting year for the band, the show at Edinburgh Castle is a significant event for the band in 2008.
Calum said ‘This is a show we’re really excited about. It’s been too long since we last played on the esplanade – they were always great occasions for the fans – music in the heart of the capital city on a summers evening - you just couldn’t get a better atmosphere.’
Tickets – seated and standing – go on general sale on Friday 15th February from 9am, priced £35.00 (plus booking fee). Tickets will be available from ticketmaster. Gates open at 7pm.

Re: RUNRIG............
I think I am a pretty newbie. I am a fan since 1998 and my first concert was the Ringfest in Cologne in 2000, followed by many concerts in the UK, Germany and Denmark. Wish I had had the chance to see them live on stage with Donnie ( don't get me wrong that has nothing to do with that everlasting Bruce vs Donnie debate ) but what I can see from the Wheels in Motion dvd it seems that I have missed some outstanding concerts.
cheers

Re: RUNRIG............
I've only been a fan since 2004. Mrs Data and her mate Sue were fans longer than that, Mrs Data often harped on about that Scottish group Runrig and to be honest, I could only think of the Anderson Brothers and stuff like that. So for her Birthday, I got a couple of cd's - Amazing Things, The Cutter and the Clan, BBC Sessions/Long Distance and Beat the Drum.
I listened to Amazing Things and got hooked, line and sinker! Went to see them live in Bristol 05 and joined the forum shortly after that, but lurked for quite a bit before posting.
When Borlum was announced, the fever pitch got well up and I started posting quite a bit more.
And still love them to bits.

Re: RUNRIG............
I remember my boyfriend's comment when he heard the ISOA cd for the first time...Well, the music is ok, but nothing special... But don't worry. He is a die hard Riggie like me now.

Re: RUNRIG............
We were at the Southampton gig last year too, that is me, Glynis, Paul and Chris B. from Coast, another of their brothers, Russ Barnes and some friends. We were stood near the front and they all surrounded me for protection as I'd just had major surgery and shouldn't really have gone, but how could I miss out on Runrig????? I just couldn't jump up and down as much !!!!celticbird wrote:My first RR concert was last year in Southampton and my second will be at Edinburgh Castle on my birthday! WOO HOO!!
