Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
I know that nothing is booked or decided, but how excited was I when Paul mentioned last night about the possibility of the band coming back up North to do a wee tour of the Highlands & Islands!!!!! I reckon the lads will totally rock the Western Isles and if you manage a few, wee mainland gigs as well, then fantastic!!!!
Great interview last night Paul and best of luck guys as you get ready for your top secret date abroad with a major superstar!!!!!

Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
I'm a bit surprised by this. Is there any great support for the band in the Highlands and Islands? I confess that I was bit disappointed by both the audience numbers and reaction (honourably excepting the hard core support) in Inverness.

Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
From where i was standing i thought the reaction was great and the turnout for an unknown band up there was pretty good:)
Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
every band has to start somewhere , and from what i see on certain message boards ,and Facebook , Coast are doing really well .
And , when i next come home to Scotland i will be coinciding my trip home with a Coast gig , NOT any other bands .

Gone off Runrig, have you?Conor2 wrote:when i next come home to Scotland i will be coinciding my trip home with a Coast gig , NOT any other bands .
Personally, I'd like to see Coast play in their heartland. Maybe a trip to the Deep South will be warranted next year.

NOT gone of Runrig , but just evaluating things mate . Such as Coast having more interaction with there fans , where as Runrig havent been heard of for months . There official website mentions nothing about what the band are up to . When there next gig or AAA cd or next album release is or f they are even working on one .
I go on a site where the band is properly one of if not , the biggest band in the world , and they have regular updates of what the band members are doing . Fans dont want to know when they are having breakfast etc ,
But a weekly or monthly update isnt to much to ask is it ? .

Quite agree. Runrig are currently letting their fans down pretty badly IMO.Conor2 wrote:But a weekly or monthly update isnt to much to ask is it ? .

Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
Well here I am back from holiday and hoping to read some reviews of the band's tour of the islands - but nothing! Did they actually go? Did anyone turn up to the (IMO rather overpriced) £20 gig in Portree? How did all the gigs go? Was the band well received and did the locals turn out in sufficient numbers? Any new songs featured? I'd love to know.

The Dark Island
Hi.just returned from Benbecula where we witnessed the band play an extended set to a small but enthusiastic crowd in the Dark Island Hotel (the D.I).
To my ears the band have never sounded better all the European dates have gelled the band into a very slik, tight unit.A special shout out to Steve who has addopted his accoustic picking style into his electric playing and has become a bit of a "guitar hero".
A word of warning to Mongo who is now wanted by the Scottish B.E.A. (Black Pudding Enforcement Agency) for illegally smuggling large ammounts of the substance out of the country, last seen disguised as a hung over drummer heading for the Lochmaddy ferry with a large package under his arm.It was nice to meet and talk to the guys again and we thoroughly enjoyed the gig ,the company and our Hebridian adventure.
P.S. My son (who was unable to get off work for the Benbecula gig) went to see the band in Portree. The £20 entry fee was set by the promoters but droped at the insistance of the band to a reasonable £14 at he door.
Thanks to COAST for a great weekend in the Western Isles,

Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
Yes you're right, DaveyTee. We want to read more of this special tour in the highlands and islands. Thank you Kenny for your review, it sounds like that you had a ball on Benbecula...
Would like to read also something from the band members, how they felt to play on the outer hebrides, I think that a dream came true for some of them.
Now I hope to see the "extended set" also in Tonder on friday...

Thanks for your reply, Kenny - it sounds like a great night. You mention an "extended set" - can you say how long it lasted?
Not surprised that Mongo took a fancy to the lopcal black pudding - it is just so superior to the English stuff!

Re: Highlands & Islands Tour!!!
Hi Davey. The band took to the stage about 11.30 played to about 1.00 then returned for a third encore.
I dont know if it was the "home coming effect" but the gig certainly seemed a bit special. This was only my second visit to the Uists (the first was only a flying visit) but I can see how the landscape, the people and the spirit of the islands has influenced the bands(Pauls) song writing.I am sure he will return from this visit with inspiration for more music from this magical place.
